Concerts

As a performing musician, I work at the intersection of tradition and reinterpretation - taking the melodic and rhythmic languages of Eastern Europe, Turkey, and India, and setting them into modern arrangements shaped by jazz harmony. The result is music that stays rooted in the traditions it draws from, while opening them up to new harmonic and improvisational possibilities.

Clarinet is my primary voice on stage, as side instruments I also performe on alto saxophone and the Bulgarian kaval. Moving between these instruments lets me shift between traditions within a single set, drawing out the distinct phrasing and ornamentation each one demands.

In concerts I aim to blend the modal systems of Turkish makam, the asymmetrical rhythms of Balkan folk music, and the melodic frameworks of Indian raga with jazz-informed harmony and improvisation to create an engaging music built for deep listening.

Throughout the years I have performed in a variety of contexts with people from many different cultural backgrounds. Travelling for concerts has taken me from Germany to Macedonia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Hungary, Romania, Ireland, Spain, Belgium, Morocco and India.
