Music Lessons
I offer music lessons for students of all ages and levels - from complete beginners to advanced players looking to refine their technique. Drawing on my background as a music therapist, all my classes are given trauma-sensitive and in a supportive style. Inspired from my ongoing studies in the field of ethnomusicology, I make efforts to bring lessons beyond technical instruction on the instrument or music theory alone, offering students a broader understanding of the traditions and contexts their instrument and repertoire comes from.
Lessons begin with solid technical foundations on your chosen instrument, clarinet, saxophone or kaval. We focus on posture, breath, hand position, tone production, and the core skills every player needs, regardless of the style they're eventually drawn to. This groundwork is built to be thorough but not rigid, giving you the technique to support whatever direction your playing takes next.
From there, repertoire is developed individually with each student, based on your own interests and goals. Some students want to work through Western classical or jazz repertoire, others want to explore the Eastern European, Turkish, or Indian traditions that inform my own playing and yet others want a mix of both. Rather than following a fixed curriculum, I build a personal repertoire path with each student - one that keeps technical progress steady while following what actually motivates you to keep playing.
Individual Lessons
One-on-one lessons tailored to your instrument, pace, and goals - whether you're picking up an instrument for the first time, returning after a break, or working toward a specific level of technical mastery. Available on clarinet, saxophone and kaval flute.
Group Classes
A collaborative setting for learning alongside others, well suited to beginners and intermediate students who enjoy the shared energy of playing in a group. Group classes build core technique while introducing ensemble skills like listening, timing, and playing together. My background in music therapy shapes how I teach, even in a group setting. Classes are structured with awareness of pacing, consent, and choice: students are never pressured to perform or be put on the spot, and there's always room to participate at your own pace. I pay attention to the group's energy and adjust accordingly, creating a space where making mistakes, taking breaks, or simply observing before joining in are all welcome.
Workshops
Focused, short-format sessions on specific themes - technique, improvisation, or the modal and rhythmic systems from Eastern Europe, Turkey, and India that inform my own playing. Workshops are open to all levels and offer a deeper dive into a single topic or tradition.
