Traditional Oriental Music Therapy

With Traditional Oriental Music Therapy you can enter a space where sound becomes a form of care, offered as a deeply personal experience in which you simply lie back, close your eyes, and let live melodies wash over you.

As you rest in a softly lit, private setting, the clarinet and flute weave improvised melodies rooted in the centuries-old Ottoman makam tradition, a system of modes long believed, in Turkish and broader Middle Eastern healing practices, to influence mood, ease tension, and restore inner balance. Layered beneath the live instruments, gentle soundscapes integrating healing frequencies with natural sounds like bird’s song and flowing water create a warm, enveloping atmosphere that carries you further into stillness.

A Session Made for You

Every sound bath is personalized. Before we begin, we take a few quiet moments to talk about how you're feeling, what's weighing on you, what you're hoping to release, where in your body or mind you'd like more ease. From there, the makam and melodic direction of your session are chosen and shaped specifically for you. No two sessions sound the same, because no two people arrive in the same place.

Throughout the session, you remain comfortably reclined while the clarinet and flute are played live, close enough that you can feel the resonance of each note, each ornament, each long sustained tone. This is not a recording. It is music made in the room, for you, in that moment, responsive, intuitive, and alive.

What You Can Expect:

  • A private, 1:1 setting
  • Live clarinet and flute, performed in the improvisational, modal style of traditional Ottoman makam music
  • Ambient soundscapes that deepen the sense of immersion and calm
  • A fully personalized experience, tailored to your emotional and physical state that day
  • A receptive, restful format, no participation required, only presence

Why Makam Music

The makam tradition is one of the oldest continuous musical systems in the world, built around modes, with a huge variety of emotional colors and moods, traditionally associated with different states of being. For centuries, this music has been used not only for artistic expression but as a form of contemplative and healing practice, played to soothe, to uplift, or to bring the listener back to center. In this session, that tradition is offered to you directly, live and unhurried, as a gentle invitation to slow down and reconnect.

Give Yourself This Time

Whether you're seeking relief from stress, a deeper sense of calm, or simply a beautiful, immersive experience unlike anything else, this session offers a rare kind of rest, one where all you have to do is listen.
