Sound baths

Singing Bowls & Makam

My unique sound baths bring together different kinds of singing bowls and other therapeutic instruments with traditional oriental music therapy, structured around the makam system, the modal framework at the heart of Ottoman and Middle Eastern musical traditions. Each session's makam is chosen according to the current zodiac sign, drawing on the historical practice of pairing specific modes with particular qualities, moods, and times.

Participants lie down in a comfortable, supported position while the session unfolds around them: The sound of singing bowls is layered over soundscapes with natural noises like flowing water or bird’s singing to build the foundation for soothing melodies played live on clarinet and flute. This combination offers a more complex sonic texture than singing bowls alone: the sustained, resonant tones of the bowls alongside the melodic, modal character of oriental music therapy engages the listeners in a peaceful way and allows them to deeply relax into the sound as they follow the floating melodies in a meditative and calm state of mind.

What to Expect
Sessions take place in a quiet, dimly lit space. A yoga mat and a blanket will be provided, but you're also welcome to bring your own mat, blanket, or anything that helps you settle in fully if you prefer that.

Group & Private Sessions
Sound baths are offered as both group sessions and, on request, private sessions tailored to an individual or small gathering. My equipment is mobile and can be set-up anywhere from small rooms to large halls, even outdoors, as long as access to electricity and protection from rain is provided. To inquire about this please contact me here.
